Unpopular take: cold brew is not better than hot coffee

I overheard someone at a cafe in Austin last Tuesday swear that cold brew is the only way to drink coffee. I tried it again yesterday at a shop on 6th Street and it just tastes flat and acidic to me. Why do people act like hot drip coffee is outdated? Has anyone else gone back to hot after trying cold brew?

Man, @skylerw87 nailed it. Cold brew just tastes flat to me too. I've heard people call it smoother, but really it's just missing the whole point of coffee.

My first cold brew was from a shop on South Congress back in 2017 and I thought it was awful. I stuck with it for a few weeks because everyone said it was smoother, but I just couldn't get past the lack of body and flavor. I'm back to hot drip coffee and a good old fashioned pour over, feels like real coffee to me.
