The pre-heated mug trick finally fixed my lukewarm pour-over slump

After three weeks of lukewarm cups from my ceramic mug, I started boiling water just to warm it first, and now my last sip in Portland is actually hot, has anyone else bothered with this or am I just impatient?

Preheating the mug feels like giving your coffee a tiny spa day before it dies in your hands. Next you'll be microwaving the spoon too, and honestly at that point just move to Florida.
