Serious question, is anyone else tired of the pour-over vs. French press debate?
I had to choose between sticking with my trusty French press or jumping on the pour-over train everyone at my local shop in Tacoma was raving about. I spent $45 on a fancy ceramic dripper and all the gear, thinking it would be a game-changer. After a solid month of trying every morning, I'm going back to the press. The pour-over was just too fussy for me, needing exact timing and a special kettle I had to buy. My French press gives me a full, rich cup in five minutes with zero stress. It feels like people push pour-over because it looks cool, not because it's actually better for a regular morning. Has anyone else tried to switch and just ended up frustrated?

Honestly this feels like a lot of things now, where the simpler way gets talked down to make room for a more complicated hobby. I mean, my brother got super into sourdough during the pandemic and acted like my store-bought bread was a crime, but his starter just stressed him out. Maybe it's just me but sometimes the basic tool just works better for getting through the day.

Gatekeeping a basic loaf of bread is a weird hill to die on.
