Question about how much water a coffee plant really needs
I was reading this old farming report from Brazil and it said a single coffee plant can use up to 40 liters of water a day in the dry season. That's like a whole big jug. Does that seem right to anyone else who's looked into growing?

Yeah that number tracks honestly. My uncle had a few coffee trees in his yard when I was a kid, and he was always out there with the hose in the summer. He used to complain about his water bill more than he ever bragged about the beans he got. Makes you wonder how big farms even manage it without draining everything around them.

Remember your uncle's water bill, keith943? Big farms often use drip lines right at the roots instead of a hose, which saves a ton. They also collect rainwater in big ponds during the wet season to use when it's dry. It's still a huge amount of water, but they have to plan it out or they'd go broke. Makes you think about the real cost of that morning cup, right?
