Question about going from a drip machine to pouring over the same beans
For about 3 years I just ran everything through a $30 Mr. Coffee and thought I was happy with it. Then my sister gave me a $20 plastic V60 for my birthday and I tried the exact same bag of medium roast from the store on 14th Street, and it tasted like a totally different drink. Is there a bean or roast level where the drip machine is actually the better call, or should I just keep at it with the pour over?

Have you tried anything dark and oily yet, because that's where a drip machine can actually hold its own since the paper filter in a V60 tends to strip out a lot of those heavier flavors.
