PSA: I ruined 3 months of pour overs before I figured out my kettle was the problem
Back in January I bought a gooseneck kettle off a friend for $25 and spent 3 months convinced my grind was off because every cup tasted flat and muddy. Turns out the thing was pouring a wide messy stream no matter how slow I went, and when I borrowed my roommate's kettle in Denver the same beans and same setting tasted totally different. Has anyone else bought used gear and blamed their own technique for weeks before checking the tool itself?
