Pour over scale died mid-brew, wasted a $30 bag of beans
My cheap kitchen scale gave out right when I hit the bloom phase on some Ethiopian beans I grabbed from a local roaster. It read 14g then jumped to 55g, so I just eyeballed the rest and the cup came out bitter and weak. I've been trying to dial in a new ratio by feel but my mornings are rough now... anyone else have a scale fail at the worst possible moment?

That "eyeballed the rest" part got me. My buddy Dan had the same thing happen with a cheap scale right as he was pouring his first bloom on some Kenyan beans he paid way too much for. He cursed for a solid minute, then just dumped the rest of the bag in and brewed it like cowboy coffee. Said it was the strongest, most bitter cup he ever had but he drank it out of spite. He still won't buy another scale, just uses a scoop now and swears it's close enough.
