Overheard a guy at the cafe bragging about his $12,000 espresso setup

He said his morning routine takes 45 minutes and I just sat there thinking, does that fancy gear actually make the coffee taste better or is it just a hobby flex, because my $200 machine gets me out the door in 5 minutes flat?

Is 45 minutes of your morning really worth a slightly better cup of coffee? I mean, I get that people have hobbies but that's a whole workout routine you could fit in there. My basic $150 machine makes a drink that tastes fine enough to wake me up, and I'm out the door before that guy has even finished grinding his beans. Unless he's a professional barista or something, I just don't see the point. It feels like half the price is for the look and the other half is for bragging rights. At the end of the day, it's still just coffee.
