My brother-in-law insisted I try a lighter roast for my morning pour-over

For years I used a dark roast from a local shop in Austin, thinking it was the only way to get a strong cup. He visited last month and brought a bag of light roast Ethiopian beans, saying the fruity notes would be a nice change. I tried it and was surprised how much more flavor I could taste, even though it felt less heavy. Has anyone else switched roast styles and been really happy with the result?

Honestly the roast level can totally change based on the water you use too, like softer water makes those light roast fruit notes pop way more.

casey_torres60 has a point about water, but the roast itself is the bigger factor for flavor. Light roasts just keep more of the bean's original taste.
