Had to pick between a Moka pot and an Aeropress for camping
Went on a trip to the Smokies last month. Only had room in my pack for one coffee setup. I've used a Moka pot for years at home. But I went with the Aeropress because of weight. The Moka pot is heavy and you need a stove. Aeropress just needs hot water from my camp stove. Made coffee at the trailhead at 6am. It came out clean and strong. No grit at the bottom. But I missed that thick espresso-style body from the Moka pot. Anyone else struggle with this choice?

Did you try brewing it a little different or just followed the standard recipe? My buddy Chad took his Moka pot camping last summer and ended up with sludge because he forgot to grind coarse enough for the camp stove heat. He's a big guy, spilled half of it trying to pour too. But he swears by the ritual of it. I guess the Aeropress is just way more forgiving when you're half asleep and cold.

Wait, doesn't a Moka pot actually need a finer grind than drip coffee though? I thought coarse was for French press and cold brew.
