Found out my $8 grocery store beans beat my $22 local roast in a blind taste test with 6 friends
We did a blind cupping at my place in Tulsa last weekend and the cheap can of whole beans got 4 votes out of 6. Anyone else had a cheap bean beat a pricey bag, or did we just mess up the brew?
Ha, been there! Cheap beans win blind tests more than people want to admit, mostly because fresh beats fancy every time. My rule now is check the roast date before the price tag, since a $22 bag sitting on a shelf for 3 months loses to a $8 can roasted last week. What was the roast date on both of yours?
