Cold brew isn't better, it's just lazy
I spent $9 on a cold brew flight last week in Portland and every one tasted like watery dirt compared to a regular hot pour over. Am I missing something or do people just pretend cold brew is fancy because it's trendy?

Watered dirt is exactly the point. Cold brew strips out the sharp edges that make hot coffee taste like coffee to begin with, and that smoothness is the whole appeal for a lot of people. Dirt can be fine if you want a caffeine delivery system that doesn't punish your stomach at 7am. Pour overs are great when you've got time to babysit a kettle and actually taste things, but half the week I just want something I can make Sunday night and grab Tuesday without thinking. The Portland flight was probably overpriced, sure, but calling it lazy misses that lazy is sometimes the smarter move.
