Can we talk about skipping the preheat on a drip machine
I know most folks say you have to preheat everything - the carafe, the basket, even rinse the filter. But my old Mr. Coffee has been making better cups since I stopped doing that. The water stays at the right temp longer and I get less bitterness. Anyone else tried cutting out the warm-up steps?

I used to think the preheat was absolutely CRUCIAL, like you'd ruin everything without it. But then I accidentally forgot to rinse my paper filter one morning and the cup was actually better. Now I skip the whole warm-up ritual entirely. The water hitting the cold basket must stay hotter longer, which makes sense for extraction. My Folgers has never tasted smoother.

Got a buddy who tried the whole preheat routine once and ended up burning his hand on the carafe lip, now he just pours cold water straight in and swears he’s never looking back.
