Back when I thought pour-over was just hipster nonsense
I spent 5 years using a $20 drip machine until my buddy in Seattle dialed me in with a V60 and a proper grind. Took trying 3 different beans at home before I admitted it actually makes a cleaner cup than my old Mr. Coffee. Anyone else get humbled by a simple setup?

Isn't it funny how we sometimes refuse to try something just because of how it's presented? I see this all the time with cooking too. People think a simple cast iron pan is old school and not worth it until they taste a steak seared in one. Or they swear by store bought bread until they try making it themselves and realize it's not that hard and tastes way better. It's like we get stuck in our comfort zone and let stereotypes keep us from finding something that actually works.

Oh man, that's so true. It reminds me of when I finally tried making my own yogurt after years of buying the expensive stuff. My first batch was a disaster, tasted like sour glue, but once I got the temp right it was like a whole new world opened up. We get so stubborn about the dumbest things sometimes.
