TIL that booking a flight on a Tuesday is actually a myth
I always heard that Tuesday was the cheapest day to buy plane tickets. I read a study from a travel data company called Hopper last week that looked at millions of fares. They found the price difference between days is less than 2%, basically nothing. The real trick is booking about 3 to 4 months ahead for international trips, and 1 to 2 months for domestic. I tested this myself looking at a trip to Mexico City. The Tuesday price was $412, and the Thursday price was $415. That's not a hack, that's just noise. It made me wonder how many other 'common sense' travel tips are just wrong. Has anyone else found a popular budget tip that turned out to be useless?
