Switching to a refillable water bottle saved me $40 on my last trip

I used to buy plastic water bottles at airports and tourist spots, spending around $8 a day in London last summer. Then a guy at my hostel showed me his collapsible bottle and how he filled it at free water stations in museums and parks. Anyone else found a cheap refill trick that works better than just using tap water?

Caught my buddy Mike paying $6 for a single disposable bottle at the airport last year. He had a nice metal bottle sitting in his carry-on the whole time but forgot about it. I showed him the free water fountains near the gates and he filled it up right there. Now he swears by carrying an extra empty bottle so he never gets stuck buying one on the go. He also found out some coffee shops will fill you up for free if you ask nice. Works way better than just tap water, since those airport fountains are actually filtered.
