Rant: I made $2,900 on credit card points and blew a whole hobby on it
Last year I put every single gas station and grocery run on one travel card, and it quietly stacked up to 96,000 points. That covered a round trip to Denver plus 3 nights at a hostel near Capitol Hill, basically free. Here is my hot take: cash back is a trap for people who actually travel, because the points are worth way more when you transfer them to airline partners. I know the churning folks on here will fight me on this, but has anyone else done the math on transfer partners vs. straight cash back?
