Pro tip: I heard a flight attendant say Wednesdays are the cheapest days to fly and ran the numbers myself

So I was grabbing coffee last week and overheard a flight attendant telling someone that Wednesday flights are always the cheapest because nobody wants to travel midweek. I got curious and checked flights from Chicago to Denver for the next 3 months. For real, Wednesday departures were $78 round trip on average while Friday was $145. Tuesdays were close to Wednesdays though. Has anyone else noticed a specific day that consistently saves you money on domestic flights?

Wait, you're seriously saying you'd rather pay $145 just to avoid taking a day off? That's like double the price, man. I don't know what kind of job you've got but I'd rearrange my whole week for sixty bucks easy.

I mean, is saving like sixty bucks really that big of a deal? I've taken plenty of last minute Friday flights to visit my sister and yeah, they cost more, but I'm not gonna switch my whole life around for a few dollars difference. Wednesdays are usually fine for me, but that time you save not having to take a day off work on a Friday might be worth the extra cash. Is it really worth rearranging your entire week just to save a little bit on a plane ticket?
