And the thing is, hostels have changed so much that they're actually great for people who want a more social experience without the whole "dorm room" vibe. A lot of them have private rooms now with actual doors and locks (which is a game changer at 35). Plus you get access to the common areas and organized events where you can connect with travelers your own age, not just college kids.
