Just found out you can get free city tours in a bunch of places

I was looking up stuff to do in Lisbon and saw a blog post about 'free walking tours'. I thought it was a scam at first, but it's actually a real thing in a lot of cities. The guides work for tips only, so you pay what you think it's worth at the end. Has anyone tried one of these and had a good guide? I'm a bit worried about getting stuck with a bad one.

Reviews can be so fake though lol. People get paid to write good ones.
