I used to book "cheap" flights through third party sites for years
Last year I paid $280 for a round trip to Denver through some site I found on Google, then got stuck with a $75 fee when my connection got delayed and they wouldn't help rebook. I sat next to a guy at the gate who booked the exact same flight direct from the airline for $310 and he got rebooked for free within 10 minutes. Has anyone else had a moment where they realized the savings weren't worth the headache?

Did you check the fine print before you booked? Because I learned that lesson the HARD way after a similar situation with a third party site. The thing is, those cheap sites make their money by selling you a ticket that's basically a ghost. They don't actually have any control over your booking after you pay. So when something goes wrong like a weather delay or a missed connection, YOU are the one stuck holding the bag. The airline will only talk to the person who bought the ticket, which is the third party site not you. That $30 you save can turn into a $200 nightmare real quick. I will NEVER book through anyone except the airline directly again.
