Backpack only for 9 days, ditched my wheelie suitcase after Osaka

I used to swear by my rolling bag, but after hauling it up 4 flights of stairs at a guesthouse in Osaka last month, I borrowed a friend's 35L pack and now I'm convinced carry-on only is the way, so has anyone else made the switch and what bag did you land on?

Hauling it up stairs once ruined wheelie bags for you? That's a pretty low bar. Unless you're planning to climb mountains with your luggage, hop on a flight with that 35L and see how you feel after a week of carrying it everywhere.
