A hostel desk guy in Lisbon told me to stop booking trains in advance, and I'm rethinking my whole trip budget
He said he watches travelers pay 60 euros for a fixed seat from Lisbon to Porto when the same route drops to 15 euros if you buy the day before. I ran the numbers on my 11 day trip and realized my locked-in tickets cost me about 180 euros extra. Does anyone here actually wing it on regional trains, or does that only work in certain countries?
