6 months ago I was booking hostels same-day, now I plan 3 months ahead

Back in March I was that guy scrambling for a bed on Hostelworld at 10pm in Barcelona, paying $45 a night for a dorm. I started setting price alerts on google flights and booking refundable rooms 90 days out, and last week I got a private room in Lisbon for $28 a night. Has anyone else noticed how much early booking changes the quality of places you end up at?

$28 for a private room in Lisbon sounds too good to be true mate that's basically a hostel bed price lol.

omg my mate went to this place in lisbon last summer that had a "private" room for like 25 euros and it turned out to be a converted storage closet with no window lmao. he said the whole night felt like sleeping in a janitor's cupboard but hey at least it was cheap
