That $10 bag of 'cheap' frozen veggies was a trap

Grabbed a giant bag from a no-name brand at the discount store. Looked fine in the bag. Cooked them up for a stir fry. Tasted like soggy cardboard. Watery mess. Threw half the bag out. Lost $10 but more mad about wasting the rice and sauce I mixed in. Anyone else get burned by off-brand frozen stuff?

Oh man, "soggy cardboard" is the perfect way to put it. I did the same thing with a giant bag of frozen broccoli crowns from a dollar store brand. Looked fine but when I steamed them they turned into this green mush that smelled like an old gym bag. The rice and sauce thing hurts the most because now you're out your good ingredients too. At least now we know better than to trust the mystery bags from the discount aisle.

The worst part is when you try to salvage it by convincing yourself it'll taste better if you just add enough hot sauce. I swear I've choked down some meals that looked more like science experiments than food, just because I didn't want to admit defeat. We're basically professional level gamblers at this point, betting our taste buds on a sad bag of discount frozen veggies.
