That $1 bag of frozen veggies I always ignored is actually good

I used to think frozen mixed vegetables were just sad filler, but last week I was broke and threw a bag into a stir fry with some soy sauce and it was actually decent. The texture wasn't mushy at all and it stretched my ground beef into three meals instead of one. Anyone else got a cheap pantry item they wrote off but now swear by?

Does anyone actually like the texture of frozen broccoli though?

Is it just the texture that bugs you, or is it how it goes all soggy and watery when you try to cook it? Like, I can deal with it being a little soft, but the way it turns into a wet sponge in a stir fry is what gets me. Do you think you'd like it more if you could get the florets to actually crisp up, or is the whole frozen thing a deal breaker?
