My cheap bag of rice just saved a whole dinner party
I was making a big pot of chili for six people and realized I'd used way too many beans, making it way too thick. I was panicking in my kitchen until I remembered a $2 bag of plain white rice I had in the pantry. I cooked a cup of it and stirred it right into the chili, and it soaked up the extra liquid perfectly. Has anyone else used a cheap staple to fix a cooking mistake?

I always thought rice was just a side dish, but I've used it to fix a watery soup before (just stirred in some leftover cooked rice at the end). It's a total pantry hero for texture problems.

Wait, is rice REALLY a pantry hero though @luna_ramirez? It just makes the soup kinda starchy and thick.
