My $15 Instant Pot chili taught me canned beans are triple the cost of dry

I was watching a budget meal video on YouTube last night and the guy broke down the math - a pound of dry beans costs $1.50 but makes the same as 4 cans that would be $5. Has anyone else switched and actually noticed a difference in their grocery bill?

That part about the YouTube guy breaking down the math really got me thinking, because people always forget about the hidden cost of time with dry beans. You gotta soak them overnight and then simmer for like an hour, and if you're anything like me you'll forget to do that until 4 PM when you're hungry. But here's the thing nobody talks about - canned beans have all that sodium and preservatives, so with dry beans you're paying less AND controlling what goes in. I did switch about six months ago and my grocery bill dropped maybe $8 a week just on beans alone, which adds up to like $32 a month.
