Is meal prep actually cheaper or just less expensive looking? My $47 Tuesday
Last Tuesday I tried to prove meal prep saves money by doing a full week of lunches for $47 at the Kroger in Wichita. I bought bags of rice, chicken thighs, frozen veggies, and those big jars of sauce. By Thursday I had thrown out half the chicken because I forgot to freeze portions, and the rice stuck to the pot like glue. So now I'm wondering, is the savings real if you factor in wasted food and your own time? I get that bulk buying looks smart on paper, but my gas and my patience ate up the difference. Has anyone else hit the wall where the prep itself costs more than the takeout you're trying to avoid? What's your breaking point for effort versus actual dollars saved?

Honestly the waste tax always kills the savings, gotta plan portions first.
