I finally figured out why my grocery bill kept climbing even though I coupon every week
I sat down last Sunday with my receipts from the last month and added it all up, and the coupons were not the issue at all. The problem was I kept buying ingredients for meals I saw online without checking what I already had in the fridge and pantry. I threw out almost $60 of spoiled produce in one month because I bought a second bag of carrots, onions, and spinach I did not need. Now I write down what is actually in my kitchen before I make a list, and my bill dropped by about $40 the first trip. Does anyone else plan meals around what is already sitting in the fridge first?
Throwing out $60 of food in one month is wild, that's basically burning money in your own kitchen lol. Checking the fridge before making a list sounds so obvious but I bet most of us never do it.
