Hot take: the 'cheap' meal advice I got from my mom was actually holding me back
My mom always told me to buy the big bag of rice from the bulk bin to save money. Did that for years. Then a friend who cooks for a living said 'stop buying bulk rice, it goes stale and you waste more than you save.' Switched to buying 2lb bags from the local Asian market for $2.50 each. Rice tastes way better, no waste, and honestly I spend less now. Anyone else get bad budget advice from family?

Yeah I used to think bigger bags were always better but you changed my mind.

...and then I tried hauling mulch bags with my old truck. I bought these huge contractor bags thinking I'd save trips. First load I hit a pothole and the bag split open. Mulch everywhere. Had to sweep a whole intersection with a push broom. Stuck with mid-size bags now. Way easier to handle and they don't explode on you.
