Hot take: frozen vegetables are better than fresh for budgeting
Last month I got sick of throwing out slimy bell peppers from the grocery store in Columbus and switched to a big bag of frozen mixed veggies for 3 bucks. They last forever and taste fine in stir fries and soups, so I actually waste nothing now. Am I missing something or is fresh produce just a scam for people with money to burn?

For real, frozen veggies are the move. @morgan.nancy nailed it with that Walmart tip, those pepper strips are a lifesaver. Fresh stuff goes bad way too fast unless you live right next to a farm or something. I used to buy fresh broccoli and half of it would rot before I even cooked it. Frozen is cheaper, lasts months, and you never feel guilty tossing food. Plus they flash freeze them at peak ripeness so the nutrients are fine. Save your money for something else, fresh produce is overrated for daily cooking.

My friend Jenny had the same issue with fresh bell peppers down in Cinci. She bought those fancy organic ones from the farmers market and they'd go bad in like three days. She started buying the frozen pepper strips from Walmart for a dollar something and now she just grabs a handful for her eggs or pasta. Swears she never looks back at fresh ones unless she's eating them raw in a salad. Makes sense if you think about it, frozen stuff is picked at its peak, fresh ones sit in trucks forever.
