Had a weird chat with my 14 year old about 'fancy' butter today
My kid asked why I was buying the store brand block butter instead of Kerrygold. I said because it's half the price and works the same for baking. She looked me dead in the eye and said, 'But mom, you always say cheap ingredients ruin good recipes.' That stung. I realized I tell her to use fresh herbs and decent cheese but then I skimp on the butter for scrambled eggs and sauces. Made her a batch of cookies Friday with the good stuff and honestly the texture was way better. She didn't even notice the difference but I did. Anyone else have a kid call them out on their own cooking rules?

Had to stop and actually THINK about it because yeah, I do this exact same thing with olive oil. Tried the fancy butter for gravy last week and it really did make a difference now I can't go back.
