Burned a whole pot of chili because I got distracted by a sale ad

Last Sunday I was making a big pot of chili to stretch for the week. Got a notification on my phone about a grocery app deal for ground beef at $1.99 a pound. Spent 15 minutes digging through the app to clip the coupon and totally forgot the burner was on high. Came back to a scorched pot and smoke filling the kitchen. Had to throw the whole thing out and order pizza which cost me $20. Anyone else ever wreck a budget meal because you tried to save money on something else?

My buddy Jeff ruined a whole batch of Bolognese because he saw a Flash deal on paper towels and spent ten minutes in the app stacking coupons. He said the smoke alarm was screaming by the time he remembered the stove.
