Warning: My neighbor's all-day smoke changed how I view patience...
I was out early last Saturday and saw Bill across the street firing up his smoker... he said he was going for a full pork shoulder. The thing is, he didn't touch it for like eight hours. I usually check every hour, adding chips and stirring coals. But his came out so tender, it fell apart with a fork. Now I'm trying to trust the process more. My last cook was way less stressful. Funny how a simple watch can shift your whole approach...

Funny how that applies to more than just cooking.

Measure twice, cut once" is about carpentry, not cooking - your mom was actually using "a little of this, a little of that.

My mom always said that about her pasta sauce recipe. It's hilarious how we treat cooking tips like they're secret codes for life. I mean, the same 'measure twice, cut once' logic works for budgeting and IKEA furniture. But tell that to someone and they act like you just discovered fire. It's basic common sense dressed up in an apron. Honestly, if more people saw the connections, we'd have fewer messed up bookcases and more saved money.
