Spent $150 on a fancy wireless meat thermometer and it died mid-cook at a party
Had friends over last Saturday for a big pork shoulder smoke. Set the thing up, got the temp probe in, and everything looked fine for the first 4 hours. Then around hour 5, the app crashed and the thermometer just disconnected. No warning, beep, nothing. The meat was already in there so I just had to guess and use my old analog probe to finish. Never again. Anyone else had a high tech gadget fail on them like that?

Yeah it's like everything now is just fancy before it works.

My buddy dropped like $200 on one of those wifi enabled grill thermometers and it crapped out during his Thanksgiving turkey cook. He had to pull the bird early and guess if it was done. Ended up with dry meat and a lot of sad looks at dinner.
