Rant: The guy who told me to flip my brisket every 30 minutes still haunts me
Dude was dead serious at a competition in Kansas City last summer, said he learned it from his grandpa, and I tried it just to be polite, turned my bark into mush and wasted 12 hours of my life, has anyone else run into one of these backyard gurus with wild advice?

Man that sucks. I've had a guy tell me to spritz my pork shoulder every 15 minutes to keep it moist, all it did was wash off the rub and add an extra 4 hours to the cook.
