Rant: I dropped $80 on a fancy wireless meat probe and it just died on me

So I was doing a big cook for my brother's birthday, a 16-pound packer brisket. I figured it was time to upgrade from my old wired probe, you know, get something with an app so I could sleep a little. Bought this one with all the bells and whistles, set it up, and it worked great for about 4 hours. Then the app just lost the signal. I tried everything, new batteries, resetting my phone, the whole deal. The unit itself just went dark and never came back on. Had to finish the cook the old way, checking by hand every hour. The brisket turned out fine, but man, what a waste of cash. Has anyone else had a probe just give up mid-cook like that? What's a more reliable brand you guys trust?

Ugh, my old wired one still works, just like @keithb51 said.

That's a real bummer. I was all in on the fancy tech for a while too. A couple of dead probes later and I just went back to my old reliable wired one. The simple stuff just seems to last.
