Had to pick between brisket and pork shoulder for a backyard party Saturday

My buddy asked me to smoke meat for his kid's birthday party last weekend. I was torn between doing a brisket or two pork shoulders. Went with the pork shoulders cause they're cheaper and harder to mess up. Fed like 30 people for around $50 and everyone was happy. Any of you ever choose one over the other for a crowd and regret it?

Did you end up happy with your choice? I've been in that exact same spot before and honestly, pork shoulder is just the smarter move for a big crowd, you know? Brisket is great but it's so easy to dry out or get a tough bite if you're not watching it like a hawk (and who has time for that at a party). Plus, with pulled pork you can just throw it in a crock pot with some sauce if it needs a little rescue, and nobody complains about free food. Sounds like you made the right call to me.
