That podcast quote about asking lazy questions stuck with me
I was listening to some random tech podcast on my commute near Austin last Tuesday and this host said, 'most people ask questions they already know the answer to.' That hit weird because I caught myself doing exactly that in a work meeting later that day. I asked my manager if we could extend a deadline when I already had the extension approved in writing. Why do we do that? Is it a confidence thing or just habit? I feel like I waste everyone's time when I already have the info, but maybe I'm overthinking it. Has anyone else noticed themselves doing this and found a way to stop?

That podcast host got it half right. Asking something you already know the answer to isn't always lazy, sometimes it's just a way to confirm your own thinking out loud before you act. The real trick is noticing when you're doing it and turning the question into a statement, like "I've got the extension approved, so I'll wrap this up by Friday.
