Showerthought: my site's traffic doubled in 3 months after I finally fixed my page titles.

I changed them from generic stuff like 'Home Page' to specific phrases people actually search for, like 'how to fix a leaky faucet in an apartment', so what's the biggest single SEO tweak that worked for you guys?

That "generic stuff like 'Home Page'" line hit me hard... I spent years calling my contact page just "Contact". My biggest win was finally adding alt text to all my images. I was so lazy about it for ages, just leaving the default file names. Once I started describing what was actually in the photos, it felt like a tiny change, but traffic from image search went nuts. I guess Google can't see pictures, so you have to tell it what's there.

Yeah, the alt text thing is huge. I had the same lazy habit with product photos. Changing from "IMG_0234.jpg" to "black steel coffee mug on a wooden desk" made those images actually show up in searches. It's free real estate if you just describe what you see.
