PSA: That guy at the auto parts counter gave me bad info on my alternator
I was at the O'Reilly in Austin last week swapping out a dying alternator on my 2010 Civic. The kid behind the counter told me to just get the cheapest reman they had, said they're all the same. My voltage dropped to 11.8 after 3 days and the battery light came back on. Anyone else get burned by bad parts advice from a store clerk?

Two hundred bucks down the drain on that reman junk.

Yeah I heard reman parts are a total crapshoot these days. I was reading on another forum where a guy said he got a reman alternator and it died after three months. Sounds like the quality control just isn't there anymore. Some places are just slapping a new coat of paint on old junk and calling it reman. I'd be pretty ticked too if I dropped two hundred on something that barely worked.
