I used to laugh at people who said you could fix a computer by turning it off and on again

For years, I thought the whole 'turn it off and on' thing was just a joke, something tech support said when they didn't know the real answer. My old laptop would freeze, and I'd spend hours digging through forums, checking for malware, and getting mad. Then, about two months ago, my new desktop monitor just went black. I was ready to call support and maybe buy a new cable. My friend, who was over, just said 'Did you try unplugging it for a minute?' I did it, feeling silly, and plugged it back in. It worked perfectly. It made me realize that sometimes the simplest fix is the real one, and my skepticism was just making things harder. Has anyone else had a moment where a fix you thought was dumb actually solved a huge problem?

My buddy Dave in college had this old car that wouldn't start for three days straight. He was looking up tow trucks and pricing new batteries, totally stressed. His dad came to visit, listened to the clicking sound, and just tapped the starter with a wrench. The engine turned over right away. Dave said he felt like a total genius for all his research after that simple fix.

Classic dad move. But how often does that actually work long term. Sounds like a bandaid fix.
