I asked a stranger for directions in Boston and ended up with a 3 hour detour
I was in Boston for a wedding and asked a guy near the Common how to get to the venue. He gave me these super detailed directions with street names I could not pronounce and said it was about a 15 minute walk. Two hours later I was in a completely different neighborhood, and when I finally pulled up the map on my phone it showed I had walked almost 4 miles in the wrong direction. Turns out he was a tourist too and just guessed at every turn. Now I always ask people who work at a store nearby, they actually know. Has anyone else been led totally astray by someone who was way too confident about directions?

Wandered around Dublin for an hour because a guy swore the museum was "just past the church.
