Hot take: My neighbor's goat ate my homework and I had to explain it to the principal

So last Tuesday morning, I'm rushing out the door for work and I realize I left my lesson plans on the back porch. I run back to grab them and there's this goat, just chomping away at the papers. Turns out my new neighbors two doors down got a goat named Kevin for their kid's birthday, and he got loose. I showed up to school 10 minutes late with goat slobber on my hand, trying to tell the principal that Kevin ate my grading rubric. She looked at me like I was making excuses, but then the neighbor called to apologize and offered to replace the papers. Has anyone else had a pet or animal ruin something important at the worst possible time?

Kevin the goat pulling a move like that is wild. 12 bucks says he was just trying to help you grade papers the old fashioned way. My neighbor's dog ate the heel off my favorite work shoe right before a big showing, had to walk in there looking like a hobo with one foot. At least your neighbor called to fess up, mine just let the dog go on with its life like nothing happened. Hope the principal bought the story after that phone call, but honestly that's a lifetime excuse right there.
