Found a simple trick to unclog my shower drain without chemicals

I had a slow drain for weeks and tried two store-bought products with no luck. Then I poured a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of vinegar, waited 15 minutes, and flushed it with hot water. Has anyone else had this work better than the harsh stuff?

Baking soda and vinegar is a pretty mild approach for a drain that sounds like it had been slow for weeks. Those store products usually have some serious chemicals in them to eat through buildup, so I'd question how stubborn your clog really was if this fizzy combo fixed it. Maybe it works for light maintenance but I wouldn't count on it for anything truly blocked up.

Used to think the same way @williamd70, but then I had a slow kitchen sink for months that nothing else touched and the baking soda/vinegar trick finally cleared it out (took a few rounds though). Guess it really depends on what's causing the clog in the first place.
