Why does nobody talk about AI translation tools bombing on legal documents?
I was helping a friend with a contract from a Spanish supplier last Thursday. Ran it through my usual AI translator and it looked fine until I spotted it changed "obra nueva" (new construction) to "new work" which completely changed the liability clause. My friend nearly signed it that way. On one hand these tools save hours, on the other they miss crucial context. Has anyone else caught a bad translation that could have cost them real money?

Wait, has AI translating "obra nueva" as "new work" actually been a known issue for a while now? lol. I've heard similar horror stories where machine translation swapped "joint liability" for "shared responsibility" in a partnership agreement, which would have changed the whole payout structure if someone signed off. Honestly, it's wild that people trust these tools with binding contracts when they can't even tell the difference between a building project and an art project lol.
