AI code review tools seemed like hype until one caught a real bug
I spent 6 months ignoring AI code review suggestions, figured they were just pattern matching from Stack Overflow. Last week, one flagged a race condition in our payment processing that would've hit maybe 300 users on a busy Friday. Our senior dev looked at it and said "huh, that's actually a real edge case." Now I'm wondering if I've been too stubborn about trusting these tools. But part of me still thinks it got lucky, one catch out of hundreds of noisy comments. Has anyone else had a similar moment where an AI tool proved itself, or do you think most of these are just overpriced autocomplete?
