Hot take: Most AI prompts are way too complicated for what they need to do

I kept spending 20 minutes crafting these detailed prompts with roleplay and examples, but the output was still garbage. Last week I just said 'make this email shorter' in plain English and it worked perfectly the first time. Why does everyone think AI needs a whole backstory just to summarize a paragraph?

Maybe all those extra details are what make the difference for some people though. It clicks for them, so they keep doing it. I bet half the time it's just folks thinking they have to make it sound fancy to get a good result.

That's the thing about confidence - sometimes people pile on details because they're not sure what actually matters, so they include everything. It's like tossing extra seasoning on a dish hoping something sticks. But a lot of times the folks who get great results are the ones who strip it down instead of dressing it up.
