Tax reassessment in Spokane County woke me up to my own bias
I bought my place in 2019 and watched values climb every year. I grumbled with everyone else about the higher property tax bills. Then this spring I actually sat down and compared my 2015 tax card from the old owner to my current one. The land value portion went up 180% while the structure went up maybe 15%. That made me realize the issue is mostly land speculation, not the county trying to squeeze homeowners. I used to blame the assessor's office for everything. Now I think they're just following state law on market value. Am I wrong to cut them some slack here, or has anyone else seen a split like that in their own property breakdown?
